Chainsaw Training

The Field Research Office is organizing a Woodlands Trainer Association Chainsaw certification course for University staff and students who require training.  Details are below.

Course Name:  Intermediate Chainsaw Woodlands Trainers Association course - please note that this course will be accepted for falling in Alberta. If conducting chainsaw operations outside of Alberta, please contact the Field Research Office.

Date:  Wednesday, May 3 to Friday, May 5, 2017

Time: 
8:30 to 4:30 pm

Cost:  $650.00 (tax included).  No refunds will be provided after April 20, 2017.

Location:  Ellerslie Research Station, south of 127th Street on Ellerslie Road, Edmonton, Alberta.

Directions:  Will be provided with upon registration. There is free parking.

Course Description:

This course is an extensive three day course which covers: safety considerations, basic saw maintenance and basic saw handling, emergency response plans, basic bucking and limbing techniques, bolt and boring cuts, compression/tension cuts and felling technical training. This test will have exam (hands-on as well as written components) and includes the cost of the the book and registration.  Note: maximum of 8 participants

What to bring:

The instructor will provide all power saws, PPE, first aid and falling training stands where needed.  All registrants will need to bring CSA safety footwear, gloves, lunch and water as well as find your transportation to the site.
